Jacob Reynolds

he/him

Jacob was raised in Southeastern Oklahoma, before attending the University of Oklahoma for his undergrad, graduating with a degree in International Security Studies. He also attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Jacob is an army veteran, having served 8 years with the Oklahoma Army National Guard, discharged as a Reconnaissance Surveillance and Target Acquisition Section Sergeant. He also served a combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He interned with the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps but eventually chose to go into private practice. He worked in Southeastern Oklahoma for two years with a large retained criminal practice, focusing on trial practice for violent crime. He represented clients in more than 20 counties in the state of Oklahoma, two different tribal courts, as well as the Eastern and Western District of Oklahoma Federal Courts.

He decided to transition to public defense because the balance of power between the government and the impoverished is impossibly skewed. After representing clients in the federal system, he realized that the government effectively has unlimited resources. He states that “prosecutions are normally less about finding the truth and more about seeking a conviction, and the government will often use all its resources to reach that conviction.” He believes the system must be challenged and that a jury trial is the most effective check on that system.

In his spare time, Jacob loves being active with his wife and their two dogs. He considers himself an outdoorsman and spends much time hunting, fishing, foraging, and backpacking. He also enjoys gardening. And true to his roots, Jacob is a huge Oklahoma Sooners football fan!
