Alex Spinks

Deputy Public Defender, he/him

Alex completed his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University, before attending law school at Lewis and Clark. He began working in 2012 as a CLS at MPD in Washington County before moving to Roseburg and joining the PD’s office. Returning to Washington County, Alex worked at MPD from 2015-2018, before opening his own firm in 2020, handling a variety of cases from probation violations to murders.

Alex says that he found his passion for public defense while working as a CLS at MPD. He says he was always drawn to trial work and there he had the opportunity to see the impact the criminal system had on people’s lives. He draws immense satisfaction from helping his clients through the hardest times and seeing them come through the other side. In Alex’s first jury trial, his client was acquitted of resisting arrest when she was unnecessarily and violently wrestled to the ground by four police officers. He believes that everyone deserves compassion and strong advocacy, no matter what they are accused of.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys playing sports (especially golf, baseball, and climbing), TTRPGs, cooking, and spending time with his family.
