Jennel Davoren is a dedicated legal professional with nearly a decade of experience supporting communities through public interest law, policy work, and social justice advocacy. Before earning her Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, she obtained a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, where she also pursued a minor in Crime, Law, and Deviance and earned Certificates in Behavioral Forensics and Criminal Profiling.

Jennel has applied her training in a variety of roles—including conducting legislative and policy research, reviewing wrongful conviction cases, and adjudicating employment-related disputes. Her work consistently centers on fairness, dignity, and access to justice.

Throughout her career, Jennel has supported and walked alongside individuals facing significant barriers, including survivors of domestic violence, people experiencing homelessness, and those managing mental health and substance use challenges. Her approach is deeply rooted in community and informed by years of direct service, legal advocacy, and a commitment to equity.

Jennel is a member of The American Bar Association (ABA), The National Association for Public Defense (NAPD), The Marion County Bar Association (MCBA) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Now pursuing licensure through Oregon’s SPPE program, Jennel is focused on providing holistic, client-first public defense. She views legal representation as a tool not just for individual advocacy, but for restoring trust and agency within communities impacted by the criminal legal system. 

Driven by a multicultural upbringing in New York, Grenada, and Florida, This foundation enables her to forge genuine connections with diverse individuals, understanding their perspectives and experiences. 

Jennel believes that understanding other cultures and history, through avenues like cooking, travel, and art, is crucial for fostering compassion and building bridges of understanding. Outside of work, she loves cooking and uses it as a hands-on method to delve into the historical roots and cultural significance of various cuisines.
