Brian Craig
Deputy Public Defender, he/him
Brian comes to Oregon from Omaha, Nebraska. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and the son of an Army veteran, he has had the opportunity to live and travel across the globe. This global view informs the holistic approach he takes with those he represents.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with majors in psychology and philosophy. In 2013, he received his Juris Doctor from University of Nebraska College of Law where he was a member of the Nebraska Moot Court Board and elected to the Order of the Barristers.
While in law school, he worked at nonprofits focused on social justice and civil rights. He was a judicial extern to a federal magistrate judge at the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.
After graduating from law school, he started his career as an attorney focusing on civil rights work on behalf of people with disabilities. During this time, he represented individuals in complex civil rights claims in state and federal court.
Since 2017 he has worked in public defense representing individuals in cases ranging from low level misdemeanors to sex offenses and capital murder. He believes every person deserves respect and to be treated with dignity no matter the circumstances of the offense or charge.
